TL;DR: the template on GitHub.
Some time ago I released a simple OWIN-based ASP.NET Web API template that was meant as a quick and easy starting point for developing SPA applications.
The tempalte was released as Visual Studio template. A reader asked my if I would provide an update for Visual Studio 2015 (RC). The answer is a clear yes and no.
With VS2015 and the new ASP.NET version on the doorstep it wouldn’t make sense to release an updated version of the simple SPA starter template based on OWIN components. OWIN can been seen as an evolutionary step and a lot of OWIN components have found direct successors in ASP.NET 5. This applies especially to the static file handling and hosting components.
Thus I created the same minimal template with the latest ASP.NET version and its updated hosting components. I set .NET Core and Kestrel usage as the default in the template to make it as compact and portable as possible.
Another change in the template is the toolchain. Instead of using a Visual Studio extension, I utilized Yeoman. Yeoman templates are way easier to create and maintain compared to standard VS templates. I hope that at some point in future you will be able to use Yeoman templates directly from VS but for now you have to use the beautiful CLI.
